In times of high winds and seismic change in world politics, it is easy for us as NPO directors and fundraisers to feel off balance and unsettled about our fundraising strategy, let alone our next fundraising action steps.
Here are a few thoughts to help us anchor ourselves in a time of change such as this:
• Relationships remain the central tenet of fundraising: good old-fashioned relationship building, the tried and tested way.
• Our fundraising strategy is not an unchanging document. We need to think, re-think and then act strategically in an ongoing manner.
• Let’s look at what worked well in 2024, reflect and then respond to new events that threaten to engulf us.
• Let’s steer clear of impulsive short-term reactions and keep communicating with our donors, partners and our client base.
Making sure we continue to really know our donor audience, they may be able to help us mitigate risk during this season of uncertainty.
